 MicroPeel
What Is a Micropeel?
This treatment is designed for the correction of acne, aging, pigmentation and is ideal for sensitive skin. This treatment is safe and effective on all skin types and skin colors. We advise the use the Micropeel treatment for:
  • Dry Skin
  • Sensitive Skin
  • Clients with Rosacea
What should I expect?
The first step involves the gentle removal of dead skin cells. We use microdermabrasion or dermaplaning to free the skin of dead cellular layers. By reducing the top layer of skin, it also lessens the appearance of fine lines and brown spots.

For the second step we do chemical peel. An alpha-hydroxy acid solution is applied to the skin. (Typically 15-30% Glycolic or Lactic Acid). We may use Salicylic Acid for clients that are proned to acne. A slight stinging sensation may occur when the acid solution is applied to the skin, but it is only momentary. The solution is then neutralized after the desired exfoliation is attained. At this point, extractions will be done to free your pores of impacted debris.

  • Glycolic Peel
Glycolic acid is used for deeper exfoliation to increase elasticity of skin and improve fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Lactic Peel
Lactic acid is used for hydrating as well as exfoliating the skin. Elasticity and fine lines are improved and hyperpigmentation is diminished in this milder peel.
  • Salicylic Peel is primarily used for the treatment of acne-prone and environmentally damaged skin. This permits a more aggressive exfoliation of the outer skin layer

The third step is a deep skin cooling process.  A cooling device is applied to the face in light, circular motions, causing an anti-inflammatory response immediately. The surface of the skin becomes dramatically smoother.

Finally, a moisturizing cream is applied to finish the process. This leaves the skin clean, fresh and protected. You can even apply your makeup immediately following the procedure.
The treatment is customized for your particular skin type so that skin does not burn or become inflamed during treatment and does not result in any major redness or soreness.

You may or may not experience further peeling depending on your skin. If peeling occurs, it usually begins 2 to 4 days following your procedure and lasts for approximately three days. Due to the rapid exfoliation, you may experience mild itching and irritation. Sun exposure should be avoided for two weeks following the procedure and sun block should always be worn. Maximum effect will be seen about two weeks after each peel.

What Are the Benefits?
The MicroPeel can leave your skin:

  • Tighter and more toned
  • Smoother and more resilient
  • Free of noticeable fine lines and wrinkles With a reduced appearance of brown spots, age spots and acne scars
  • Stronger and firmer
  • Free of blemishes, blackheads and clogged pores

Am I a good Candidate?
This is great for sun-damaged, pigmented and prematurely aging skin. A micropeel will not improve dynamic wrinkles or skin fold wrinkles. If you have thin, sensitive skin, you may have redness for one to two days following your micro peel. If this occurs , tell your clinician so that a lower concentration of solution can be used for subsequent peels.

If you are pregnant, lactating or have a chronic history of cold sores or are taking certain medications, we do not recommend this treatment. You should also note that since any exfoliation procedure increases photosensitivity to the sun so you must use sun protection.

How Long Does A Treatment Take?
These treatments take about 30 minutes.

What are the pre and post care steps?
Pre-Care
You must discontinue the use of any retinol products (RetinA®, Tretinoic acid, etc.) or medical exfoliants for at least one week prior to the procedure.

If taking Accutane orally, you must stop taking it one year prior to any procedures.

Avoid prolonged sun-exposure or tanning for 10 days prior to your procedure

Post-Care
For the 72 hours following the procedure, only use a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sun-protection. Any active home care products can be continued after 72 hours or after any flaking has dissipated. Do not pull on skin which is peeling off as this may cause scarring.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Six peels are usually required at two-week intervals to achieve optimal results. It is recommended that to continuously maintain your results you should receive micropeels every two to three months after the initial six peels. Micropeels are used in conjunction with a regimental skin care program for best results. If you cannot follow this regime, you can expect your skin will return to baseline within six months.
